Youth Engagement

There is no better place or time than the Women Deliver 2016 Global Conference (WD2016) to highlight the importance of young people, and there is no better way to give the power of youth a platform than by meaningfully engaging young people and inviting their participation in all that WD2016 has to offer. From a two-day Youth Pre-Conference and the Youth Zone, to the plenary and concurrent sessions, young people – who will make up 20% of all participants of WD2016 – will be front and center embodying a new paradigm of youth engagement.

Women Deliver conferences offer multiple opportunities for learning, sharing, networking, and collaborating. Below are some of the features specifically designed for youth engagement in 2016:

YOUTH PRE-CONFERENCE

One of the largest Youth Pre-Conference gatherings of young people on girls’ and women’s health and rights following the launch of the SDGs, it will be held on 15-16 May 2016, wrapping up just before WD2016’s opening plenary.

More than 500 young people under the age of 30 from across 125 countries (of which, approximately 35% are men) will hear from keynote speakers, hold roundtable discussions, participate in training workshops, and network with peers and high-level participants.

Participation is by invitation only, limited to Women Deliver’s 200 Young Leaders and 300 Youth Scholarship Recipients.

YOUTH ZONE

A physical space located within the exhibit halls dedicated to all youth attendees, the Youth Zone will be a bustling central hub for intergenerational dialogue, the discussion of ideas and best practices, and networking. To view the Youth Zone schedule please click here.

YOUTH VOICES

The voices of those under 30 will be integrated across WD2016’s program. Young people will be featured speakers on plenary and concurrent sessions at WD2016. Their voice and opinions receive equal weight and value as all other panelists and speakers.
