Francoise Girard

staff-francoise-girard-199x300-2015Françoise Girard is President of the International Women’s Health Coalition and a highly regarded advocate for women’s rights and sexual and reproductive rights and health. She is an expert on strategic philanthropy in the developing world, and served as Director of the Public Health Program at the Open Society Foundations from 2006-2011. Françoise is regularly consulted by UN and intergovernmental agencies and has played a key advocacy role at UN conferences on population and development, women’s rights, and HIV/AIDS. She has contributed many articles to peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Adolescent Health; Science, Health and Human Rights; International Family Planning Perspectives; and Reproductive Health Matters. Her other publications include Global Implications of U.S. Domestic and International Policies on Sexuality (2004), as well as chapters in SexPolitics: Report from the Front Lines (2007) and Reproductive Health and Human Rights: The Way Forward (2009).
