Haileyesus Getahun, is Coordinator of the TB/HIV and community engagement unit at the WHO Global TB Programme in Geneva, Switzerland. The core focus of this unit is to develop relevant policies, strategies, guidelines and tools to further advance universal access to TB and HIV prevention and care, and community-based TB activities, including the effective engagement of nongovernmental and other civil society organizations. Dr Getahun leads efforts to scale up the implementation of collaborative TB/HIV, community-based TB activities and integration of TB into maternal, newborn and child health services. He also coordinates the Secretariats of the United Nations Special Envoy on TB and the HIV/TB Task Force.
