Joyce Wanderi
Joyce Wanderi is Chief Operating Officer of PS Kenya. She has over 13 years’ experience in social/private sector marketing including 10 years in public health managing large scale national health programs in Maternal and Child Health, Malaria, Reproductive Health and HIV. She is responsible for providing strategic direction, health program development, technical oversight and management of a team of over 300 staff. In the last 5 years, she led the scale up of social franchising to a countrywide Tunza franchise.
Her expertise also extends to health financing, strategic planning, marketing planning, social behavior change communication, brand development and performance improvement facilitation. In 2014, she led the formation of an association that brings 6 leading franchises under one umbrella body.
The Association of Social Franchising for Health is the first of its kind in Africa, and Ms. Wanderi is currently the chair. She is also a board member of the Kenya Health Federation (KHF), a founder member of the International Social Marketing Association, and country lead for the 5-year multi country AHME project. Specific contribution in the health sector includes coauthoring a tool kit for policy makers and service providers on Mainstreaming Emergency Contraceptives in developing countries; consultation in the development of a global communication strategy for WHO on communicating sensitive topics in SRH – HIV and hormonal method and facilitation of a public – private sector forum towards FP commodity security in the country.
