Lars Løkke Rasmussen
Mr. Lars Løkke Rasmussen has served as Prime Minister of Denmark since June 2015. Previously, he held office as Prime Minister from 2009 to 2011. Mr. Rasmussen has been member of the Danish Parliament since 1994 and became chairman of the Danish Liberal Party, Venstre, in 2009. Former minister positions include Minister of Finance (2007-2009) and Minister for the Interior and Health (2001-2007).
In 2012 he founded and until 2015 also chaired the Board of “LøkkeFonden” – a foundation supporting boys on the edge of society in taking responsibility of their own life and future and to join the community.
Mr. Rasmussen has from 2012 to 2014 also served as chairman for The Global Green Growth Institute working to integrate economic growth with environmental sustainability.
As a local politician, he was County Mayor of Frederiksborg County (1998-2001), chairman of the Trade and Industry Committee, the Health Committee (1994-1997)and the Children’s and Cultural Committee of Græsted-Gilleleje Municipal Council (1990-1994). In his early career, he worked as independent consultant.
Mr. Rasmussen was born on 15 May 1964 in Vejle, Denmark. He is married, with three children. He holds a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Copenhagen.
