Margaret is a 20 year old youth advocate from Sierra Leone. Margaret is active in her community: she regularly talks to her peers about challenges facing girls and takes part in a radio discussion about these issues as part of Plan International’s activities in Sierra Leone.
She campaigns on girls’ rights issues including education, youth unemployment, teenage pregnancy and gender-based violence. Margaret is particularly interested in tackling the barriers to employment faced by young people in Sierra Leone and addressing the lack of youth representation in government.
Margaret has been nominated to represent young people in her community at Women Deliver to voice their concerns about the challenges they face and share her recommendations for the future so that young people can be part of the solution. To continue her work as an advocate on girls’ and women’s issues, when she grows up Margaret would like to work for an NGO.
