Veronica Magar
Veronica Magar (Dr. Ph, MPH, MA) is the Team Leader for Gender, Equity and Human Rights at the World Health Organization (WHO) and leads a dynamic team of technical experts to ensure that WHO programs and policies ensure that ‘no one is left behind’. This requires a transformational shift in both culture and operations. Before joining WHO, in 2013, she held the position of Executive Director of r e a c h (research and action for change),based in Delhi, India leading community-based research, policy analysis, and technical support. Since 2006, she has worked with UN agencies, NGOs, and governments in more than 30 countries across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East to address gender inequality and human rights. Prior to that Dr. Magar worked at international NGOs including CARE where she led work on gender mainstreaming, violence against women, research and evaluation in the area of women’s health. Dr. Magar earned her MPH and MA at UCLA and DR PH the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
