Visa Information

SPECIAL ALERT:

Due to technical difficulties, all Danish Embassies around the world are temporarily unable to process or issue visas – including visas for participants travelling to the Women Deliver Conference. The Danish Government has made special arrangements to facilitate timely processing of visas for Women Deliver participants during this time.

What to do:
• If you have already submitted a visa application but have not yet received visa approval, contact your local Danish embassy by phone to request further instruction.
• If you plan to attend the conference, but have not yet submitted a visa application, contact your nearest Danish embassy as soon as possible to initiate the application process.

Thank you for your patience- we are making every effort to make sure that all participants are able to be in Copenhagen next month.

Do I need a visa?
Please visit the following link for a list of countries whose citizens need a visa to enter Denmark.

How do I apply for a visa?
Please visit the Danish Immigration Service website (http://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-us/coming_to_dk/visa/visa.htm) for general information about the requirements for applying for a visa and the application process.

Important note: A registration confirmation letter from Women Deliver will be required when applying for a visa. This letter will be provided by Women Deliver through the online registration system once you have registered and paid your registration fee. Please note that incomplete registrations or registrations submitted without payment will not receive a confirmation letter. (For scholarship winners, you will receive your confirmation letter as soon as you have registered – payment will not be required)

Travel Medical Insurance: Proof of Travel Medical Insurance is also required for all participants applying for visas to travel to Denmark. The insurance required is for medical emergency (acute illness or injury – not pre-existing conditions) and must cover the days you are in Denmark. You may contact your own insurance representative to obtain a policy, but if you wish to purchase a policy at our group negotiated rate, please email Sebastian Ambaek Laursen, Customer Service at Europaeiske (ERV) at SAL@Europaeiske.dk. Please include in your email your full name, birthdate, and dates of stay in Denmark. Mention that you are participating in the Women Deliver Conference. An ERV representative will contact you and provide a policy ID.

If you have medical insurance, it may not cover you for all travel destinations. Check with your insurance carrier. Policy verification is necessary for the visa process.

Where do I apply for a visa to travel to Denmark?

Denmark is not present nor represented in all countries around the world. If Denmark does not have an embassy in the country of an applicant or has a representation agreement in the country or has an outsourcing office, the applicant will have to travel to a country where Denmark has a visa issuing embassy (not just another Schengen country). You can find more information here.

When should I apply for a visa?

Please be aware that the visa application process can take a considerable amount of time. You may submit your visa application 3 months before your departure date to Denmark; however, all necessary application paperwork must be obtained and completed in advance to ensure that you are prepared to submit your application exactly 3 months prior to departure.

Please consult the website of the relevant Danish Embassy for information about how and where to apply for visa. A list of all Danish Embassies can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

What is Women Deliver doing for the youth scholarship recipients who have not yet received their visas?

We at Women Deliver want to express our support for those who have not yet received a visa for the Women Deliver 2016 Conference. We understand how frustrating this must be. We are and have been working closely and tirelessly with the authorities on the whole process, and intervened on behalf of the few scholarship recipients who have had difficulty procuring visas to attend the conference. We hope to see you all in Copenhagen

Will I be able to receive my registration fee back in full if I do not get a visa?

Yes, if you provide us with evidence that you were turned down for a visa, we will refund in full.
