Sabera Turkmani is an Afghan Midwife and former President of Afghan Midwives Association. She has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in her devotion to the Afghan Midwives Association and other international organization such as Jhpiego, USAID, UNFPA and Johns Hopkins University in Afghanistan. Sabera as young woman traveled around the country under insecure and high conflict situation and advocate for safe motherhood to improvement of maternal health services and quality of care for women. Sabera has broad expertise in women empowerment in Afghanistan through strengthening midwifery education, faculty development, capacity building, grant management, fundraising, as well as advocacy campaigns at policy level.
Currently she is working as researcher and pursuing her PhD with University of Technology, Sydney, Faculty of Health.
